Theological Explorations

The four pillars of Dominican life are:

Mission/Ministry, Common Life, Study, and Prayer.

The Pillar of Study is central to the pursuit of truth as well as being essential and integral to our personal growth, our prayer and our ministries. “Because our study is directed to knowledge of the truth which does justice, it must be grounded in contemplation, be fed by sound knowledge and critical thinking, be in contact with the historical moment, and be enlightened and integrated with our lived experience in ministry.” [Racine Dominican Constitution, 21]

The Goals of the Theological Explorations Committee arise from the pillar of Study.

Committed to Truth, Compelled to Justice, We Seek to

minister to the Racine Dominican Community through:

*     Thoughtful contemplation of both modern and historical theology

*     Loving preparation of theological materials to help the community grow in the Dominican charism

*     Encouraging the community to expand its capacity to do theological reflection

*     Promoting the Integration theological exploration into the mission and ministries of the community
